Microsoft shuts down Autopatcher, Windows users mourn its loss

Microsoft, in yet another instance of kicking it's most loyal user in the teeth, yesterday e-mailed Autopatcher.com requesting the "immediate takedown" of the download page. As a Windows technician and user for many years, this decision is gut-wrenchingly disappointing. As anyone who has had to repair PC's either in the field or in a workshop will tell you, Auto patcher is the time saving labour saving and most utterly useful utility you could ever ask for. Without Auto patcher we face a minefield of trying to keep updates on our PC, installing them one by one. Using Windows Update is sometimes not an option, a PC that may not even have a network connection available in the workshop (if the customer only has dial-up, or perhaps an incompatible ISP such as ADSL when you have Cable)

This is not just a sad day, it is bitterly disappointing. So much so, that I'm even going to write a paper letter of complaint to Microsoft themselves.
